SSC MTS

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) Examination to recruit candidates for different ministries, departments, and offices of the Government of India. Every year lakhs of SSC aspirants after completing their 10th class appear for the exam to get shortlisted for the following posts.

  • Havaldar
  • Peon
  • Daftary
  • Jamadar
  • Junior Gestetner Operator
  • Chowkidar
  • Safaiwala
  • Mali etc.

Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff and Havaldar Exam) every year and the selection process is as follows:

  • Paper 1 (online) for both MTS and Havaldar post
  • PET/ PST (only for the post of Havaldar)

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) - A candidate must be a minimum of 18 years of age and must not exceed 25 years of age.

Havaldar Age Limit- A candidate must be of a minimum of 18 years of age and must not exceed 27 years of age.

Relaxations are provided for reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC, etc.).

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed the 10th class (Matriculation) from a recognized board.
  • No higher education qualification is required. However, the candidate must fulfill the age and qualification requirements by the cut-off date specified by SSC.

Exam Pattern

  • Paper-1
  • PET/PST (only for Havaldar)

There will be a Computer-Based Examination which is divided in 2 Sessions. Session-I and Session-II and both the Sessions will be mandatory to be attempted.

  • Mode: Online.
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • Questions: 90.
  • Marks: 150 marks.
  • Marking: 3 mark for each correct answer
  • Negative Marking: 1 marks for each incorrect answer (there is no negative marking for Section I)
  • Sections: There are two sections:

Note: The SSC MTS written exam is divided into 2 sections. There will be no negative marking in Session 1 and there shall be a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer in Session 2.
