The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam to
recruit candidates for various posts in ministries, departments, and organizations of the
Government of India. This is an excellent opportunity for those who have completed their 12th grade
(or equivalent) and aspire to work in government roles with a steady salary, job

and various allowances.
Posts under SSC CHSL
The SSC CHSL exam fills positions for several government posts, including:
- Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
- Postal Assistant (PA)
- Sorting Assistant (SA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit:
The age limit for various posts varies, but typically it is 18 to 27
years. Relaxations are
provided for reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC, etc.).
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have completed 12th grade (or equivalent) from a
recognized board or
university.
- For Data Entry Operator (DEO), candidates need to have 12th
grade with Science
(Mathematics
as one of the subjects)
.
Exam Structure
The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in two tiers as follows:
Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (CBE)
- Mode: Online.
- Duration: 60 minutes.
- Questions: 100.
- Marks: 200 marks.
- Marking: 2 mark for each correct answer
- Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer
- Sections: There are four sections:
- General Intelligence
- General Awareness
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
Tier II: Computer-Based Examination
- Mode: Online.
- Duration: 135 minutes.
- Marks: 360 marks.
- Negative Marking: 1 marks for each incorrect answer
- Marking: 3 marks for each correct answer

Note: Those who qualify in Section 1 and Section 2 of the Tier II Exam will only be considered
